Idaho rules
The Idaho rules your finance function runs on.
Six rules set by Idaho, each with the law that sets it and what it does to your month. Your team works to them every pay run and every close.
The filing cycle sets the calendar.
Monthly filers pay over each month’s withholding by the 20th of the next month, a zero return is still due when nothing was withheld, and Form 967 has to agree with every Form 910 filed, so withholding is reconciled to the books monthly.
Idaho taxes income at a flat 5.3% above an inflation-indexed threshold, and employers withhold it using the Tax Commission’s 2026 tables, revised on July 31, 2026 after the Idaho Child Tax Credit sunsetted. A separately paid bonus or commission may be withheld at 5.3%. Form 910 follows the filing cycle the Tax Commission assigns: monthly returns are due by the 20th of the next month, quarterly returns by the last day of the month after the quarter, and the annual Form 967 by January 31.
Idaho Code § 63-3024; Idaho Code § 63-3035; 5.3% rate under Idaho Code § 63-3024 as amended in 2025; 2026 withholding tables revised July 31, 2026.Sources Idaho Legislature: Idaho Code § 63-3024, individuals’ tax Idaho State Tax Commission: Withholding tables updated for 2026 (July 31, 2026) Idaho State Tax Commission: Computing withholding Idaho State Tax Commission: Withholding due dates
The cost runs well into the year.
Contributions stop only once an employee’s wages pass $58,300, so for salaried staff they can continue through most of the year, and each quarterly report has to agree with the pay runs posted to the books.
In 2026, employers pay unemployment insurance tax on the first $58,300 of each employee’s wages, up from $55,300 in 2025. New employers start at the standard rate of 1.000% for at least their first six calendar quarters, and experience-rated employers pay from 0.208% to 5.400%. Quarterly reports and payments are due by April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31, with no grace period.

The training rate has an end date.
A new hire under 20 paid $4.25 must move to at least $7.25 after 90 consecutive calendar days, so the payroll file carries each hire date and the rate changes on time, not at the next review.
The Idaho minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, and the minimum wage for a tipped employee is $3.35 an hour. New hires under the age of 20 may be paid $4.25 an hour, but only for their first 90 consecutive calendar days of employment. Idaho law does not require employers to give breaks or meal periods; employees are entitled to them only under the employer’s own policy.

Printing work can carry tax.
A business that also produces printed or fabricated goods collects 6% on that labor and holds it until the return is due, so each invoice line is coded taxable or not when it is raised, and tax collected is kept apart from operating cash.
Idaho’s sales and use tax rate is 6%. It applies to retail sales of goods and to listed services such as admissions, recreation, short-term lodging, meals, and production, fabrication, printing, or imprinting labor, while repair and installation labor stated separately is not taxed. Some resort cities add a local sales tax. Most retailers file monthly by the 20th of the next month, and those owing less than $750 a quarter file quarterly.

Final pay can come before payday.
A leaver’s wages may be due within 10 working days, or 48 hours after a written request, so the last pay is prepared when notice is given rather than left for the next scheduled pay run.
Employers pay all wages due at least once each calendar month, on regular paydays set in advance, and a pay period may end no more than 15 days before its payday. When an employee quits, is terminated, or is laid off, wages due are paid by the next regular payday or within 10 days, excluding weekends and holidays, whichever is sooner. A written request from the employee shortens that to 48 hours.

Onboarding is part of the pay run.
The new-hire report draws on the same details as the first pay, so it is prepared the day someone is added to the payroll file, well inside the 20-day window.
All employers report newly hired employees to the Idaho Department of Labor within 20 days of the date of hire, including rehires whose previous employment ended more than 12 months earlier. The report gives the employer’s name, address, federal employer identification number, and Idaho unemployment insurance account number, and the employee’s name, address, Social Security number, and date of hire.

How it works from anywhere
Can a team outside Idaho run an Idaho business?
Yes. Visory’s US leadership team is in New York, and its teams work with businesses across the United States remotely, inside your own accounting file, so nothing about the work depends on where your office is.

Your books stay in your own QuickBooks or Xero file. Your team works inside it, so you see the same numbers they do, whenever you look.
A team you know by name
A dedicated team runs the work, led by a Business Performance Partner. You meet them by video call, and you always know who to ask.

Unemployment costs, accrued by midyear
At the 1.000% standard rate, each employee costs up to $583 in 2026 contributions, and for anyone paid $116,600 or more a year, the $58,300 wage base is reached by the end of June. Insights accrues that cost in the first half and puts the payments on April 30 and July 31, when the first two quarters are due.
Bonuses carry a flat 5.3%
A separately paid bonus can be withheld at Idaho’s flat 5.3%, so a $10,000 year-end bonus carries $530 of Idaho withholding, due with the Form 910 for the period it is paid. Insights plans the cash for it in the month the bonus goes out.
Quarterly sales tax returns end near $12,500
Retailers owing less than $750 of sales tax a quarter file quarterly. At 6%, that is $12,500 of taxable sales in a quarter; past it, returns are monthly and due by the 20th. Insights shows the quarter your taxable sales cross the line, so the cash is set aside sooner.

Questions Idaho businesses ask.
Straight answers about bookkeeping and payroll for an Idaho business, from a team that works remotely.
Does Visory have an office in Idaho?
Visory’s US leadership team is in New York, and its teams work with growing businesses across the United States remotely, so we support businesses in Idaho as we do everywhere else. An Idaho business gets a dedicated team you know by name, who keep the books and run payroll inside your own QuickBooks or Xero file and meet you by video call. Your records stay in your file, which you can open at any time.
What hours does my Visory team work?
Your team works 9am to 5pm Eastern Time on business days, all year round. Outside those hours, the Visory platform is your 24/7 access point, so your financial information is there whenever you need it.
Can a bookkeeper outside my office look after an Idaho business?
Yes. What matters is that the team knows Idaho’s rules and works inside your own accounting file. Visory connects to your bank feeds and software, codes and reconciles transactions through the month with Delphi AI working under an expert team, and meets you by video call. Nothing about the work depends on where your office is.
How much does a bookkeeper cost in Idaho?
Visory charges one flat monthly fee for the scope we agree, with no hourly billing and no timesheets. The fee reflects the services you take, from bookkeeping and payroll to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Insights, and the volume of work in your business. After a discovery call, you get a clear proposal, so you know the monthly cost before you start.
See how pricing works Do you work in QuickBooks and Xero?
Yes. Visory works inside the systems you already use: QuickBooks and Xero for the ledger, Gusto and Rippling for pay runs, and Bill, Ramp, and Stripe for payments, along with your bank feeds. Your books stay in your own accounting file, which you own and can open at any time. Any change to your setup is agreed with you first.
Do Idaho businesses charge sales tax on services?
Only on some. The 6% sales tax applies to goods and to services the Tax Commission lists as retail sales, such as admissions, recreation, short-term lodging, meals, and production, fabrication, printing, or imprinting labor, while separately stated repair and installation labor is not taxed. Some resort cities add a local sales tax. This is general information; the Idaho State Tax Commission sets the rules.
When is final pay due when an Idaho employee leaves?
By the next regular payday or within 10 days of the separation, excluding weekends and holidays, whichever comes first, whether the employee quits, is terminated, or is laid off. If the employee asks in writing for earlier payment, it is due within 48 hours of the request. This is general information; the Idaho Department of Labor sets the rules.
What is the Idaho unemployment insurance wage base in 2026?
Unemployment insurance tax is paid on the first $58,300 of each employee’s wages in 2026, up from $55,300 in 2025. New employers pay the standard rate of 1.000% for at least six calendar quarters, and experience-rated employers pay from 0.208% to 5.400%. Your Payroll Specialist prepares each quarterly report from the same pay runs, due by the last day of the following month.
Can you look after staff in more than one state?
Yes. Each state sets its own income tax withholding, unemployment insurance, minimum wage, and leave rules, and Idaho requires withholding from nonresidents who earn $1,000 or more working in Idaho during the year. Visory keeps one set of books and runs payroll with each state’s rules applied to the staff who work there, so every state’s cost shows in one monthly report.
Do you offer a fractional CFO in Idaho?
A fractional CFO advises on numbers someone else produces. Visory runs the books, payroll, and payments, then delivers the insight from the same team: Visory Insights is a plain-English monthly report and a session with a named Business Performance Partner. There is no handover between the doing and the advising, and it comes on one flat monthly fee.
