Who we work with in Oklahoma

Growing businesses across Oklahoma.

Health care and social assistance is Oklahoma’s largest private industry, with about 228,000 jobs, and mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction employs about 28,200 people, four and a half times its share of jobs nationally, at average annual pay of $128,091 (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages). Across the state, private employers averaged about 1.36 million jobs in 2025.

Oklahoma rules

The Oklahoma rules your finance function runs on.

Six rules set by Oklahoma, each with the law that sets it and what it does to your month. Your team works to them every pay run and every close.

Most employers pay over every month.

Above $500 a quarter, withholding is due by the 20th of the next month, so the books hold it as a liability from payday to the 20th, and the quarterly return agrees with every payment made.

Set by 68 O.S. § 2385.1; Packet OW-2, 2026 Oklahoma Income Tax Withholding Tables

Employers withhold Oklahoma income tax from pay for services in Oklahoma using the 2026 tables, which withhold at 2.5%, 3.5%, and 4.5% after allowances; for a single employee paid monthly, nothing is withheld on the first $842. Withholding of up to $500 a quarter is paid by the 20th of the month after the quarter, more than that monthly by the 20th, and an average of $10,000 or more a month last fiscal year on the federal semi-weekly schedule. Returns are filed quarterly.

68 O.S. § 2385.1; Packet OW-2, 2026 Oklahoma Income Tax Withholding Tables; withholding tables effective January 1, 2026.

The cost lands early in the year.

Contributions stop once an employee’s wages pass $25,000, so for better-paid staff most of the year’s cost falls in the first two quarters, and a budget that spreads it evenly understates them.

Set by Oklahoma Employment Security Act, 40 O.S. § 3-109

Employers pay contributions on the first $25,000 of each employee’s wages in 2026, at rates from 0.2% to 5.8%, and new employers pay 1.5% until they build at least four quarters of experience. For 2027 the base falls to $24,400 and the range to 0.1% to 5.5%. Quarterly wage reports and contributions are due April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31.

Federal coverage sets the tipped floor.

Whether the federal law covers the business decides whether a tipped employee’s cash wage starts at $2.13 or after a 50% credit, so the payroll file records which applies before the first run.

Set by Oklahoma minimum wage law, as published by the Oklahoma Department of Labor; federal Fair Labor Standards Act

The federal and state minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Employers not covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act follow the state minimum wage if they have at least 10 full-time employees or equivalent, or gross more than $100,000 a year, and may take a tip credit of no more than 50%, or $3.62. Employers covered by the federal law may pay tipped employees a cash wage of $2.13 an hour.

The rate follows the delivery address.

Goods delivered in Tulsa and in Oklahoma City carry different local rates, so each invoice is taxed for where the customer receives it, and the return reports the tax by city and county.

Set by Oklahoma sales tax law, administered by the Oklahoma Tax Commission

Sales tax applies to goods and to specific services, such as parking lots and hotel rooms; janitorial and lawn care services are not taxable. The state rate is 4.5%, and cities and counties add their own, at the rates where delivery occurs: 4.125% in the Oklahoma County part of Oklahoma City, and 3.65% in Tulsa plus 0.367% for Tulsa County. Returns are due by the 20th of the month after each period, monthly unless the tax due is under $50 a month, when semiannual filing may be allowed.

The pay calendar has fixed gaps.

Paydays fall within 11 days of each period’s end, so a twice-monthly cycle needs its cut-off and approval dates set to match, and a leaver’s final pay joins the next regular run.

Set by Oklahoma wage payment law, as enforced by the Oklahoma Department of Labor

Most employees are paid all wages due at least twice each calendar month, on regular paydays set within 11 days after the end of each pay period, and wages may not be paid more than three days after payday. Exempt employees may be paid once a month. Whether an employee quits or is fired, final pay is due on the next regular payday. Each payment of wages comes with a pay stub, on paper or electronic.

Onboarding is part of the pay run.

The new-hire report draws on the same details as the first pay, so it is done the day someone is added to the payroll file, well inside the 20 days.

Set by Federal new hire reporting law; Oklahoma new hire reporting

Employers report all newly hired employees to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission within 20 days of the employee’s start date, online or on paper form OES-112. The new-hire database is used by OESC and the Child Support Enforcement Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services to stop fraudulent unemployment and workers’ compensation payments and to enforce child support.

How it works from anywhere

Can a team outside Oklahoma run an Oklahoma business?

Yes. Visory’s US leadership team is in New York, and its teams work with businesses across the United States remotely, inside your own accounting file, so nothing about the work depends on where your office is.

Your own file

Your books stay in your own QuickBooks or Xero file. Your team works inside it, so you see the same numbers they do, whenever you look.

A team you know by name

A dedicated team runs the work, led by a Business Performance Partner. You meet them by video call, and you always know who to ask.

Your team works 9am to 5pm Eastern Time on business days, all year round, and the Visory platform is open to you around the clock for documents, approvals, and your numbers.

Visory Insights

What your numbers should show in Oklahoma.

Clean books are the start. Every month, Insights turns them into a plain-English report, and a named Business Performance Partner walks your leadership team through what they mean for the year ahead.

Unemployment cost per hire eases in 2027

At the 1.5% new-employer rate, each employee costs up to $375 in 2026 on the $25,000 base, and up to $366 in 2027, when the base drops to $24,400. Insights carries the published base into next year’s budget, so headcount plans start from the right figure.

The 20th is a busy day for cash

Once withholding passes $500 a quarter, it is paid monthly by the 20th of the following month, the same day monthly sales tax returns are due. Insights builds the 20th into the cash calendar, so tax already withheld or collected is never spent as working capital.

City tax nearly doubles the rate

In the Oklahoma County part of Oklahoma City, the 4.125% city rate on top of the 4.5% state rate makes 8.625%, or $862.50 on a $10,000 taxable sale. Insights keeps tax collected apart from operating cash until the return is due, so the cash you plan from is the business’s own.

Straight answers about bookkeeping and payroll for an Oklahoma business, from a team that works remotely.

Does Visory have an office in Oklahoma?

Visory’s US leadership team is in New York, and its teams work with growing businesses across the United States remotely, so we support businesses in Oklahoma as we do everywhere else. An Oklahoma business gets a dedicated team you know by name, who keep the books and run payroll inside your own QuickBooks or Xero file and meet you by video call. Your records stay in your file, which you can open at any time.

What hours does my Visory team work?

Your team works 9am to 5pm Eastern Time on business days, all year round. Outside those hours, the Visory platform is your 24/7 access point, so your financial information is there whenever you need it.

Can a bookkeeper outside my office look after an Oklahoma business?

Yes. What matters is that the team knows Oklahoma rules and works inside your own accounting file. Visory connects to your bank feeds and software, codes and reconciles transactions through the month with Delphi AI working under an expert team, and meets you by video call. Nothing about the work depends on where your office is.

How much does a bookkeeper cost in Oklahoma?

Visory charges one flat monthly fee for the scope we agree, with no hourly billing and no timesheets. The fee reflects the services you take, from bookkeeping and payroll to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Insights, and the volume of work in your business. After a discovery call, you get a clear proposal, so you know the monthly cost before you start.

See how pricing works

Do you work in QuickBooks and Xero?

Yes. Visory works inside the systems you already use: QuickBooks and Xero for the ledger, Gusto and Rippling for pay runs, and Bill, Ramp, and Stripe for payments, along with your bank feeds. Your books stay in your own accounting file, which you own and can open at any time. Any change to your setup is agreed with you first.

Do Oklahoma businesses charge sales tax on services?

Only on specific services, such as parking and hotel rooms; janitorial and lawn care services are not taxable. Goods are taxed at the 4.5% state rate plus the city and county rates where they are delivered, which makes 8.625% in the Oklahoma County part of Oklahoma City. This is general information; the Oklahoma Tax Commission sets the rules for your business.

What is the Oklahoma unemployment insurance wage base in 2026?

Contributions are paid on the first $25,000 of each employee’s wages in 2026, at rates from 0.2% to 5.8%, and new employers pay 1.5%. In 2027 the base falls to $24,400 and rates run from 0.1% to 5.5%. This is general information; the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission sets the rules.

How often do I have to pay employees in Oklahoma?

Most employees are paid at least twice each calendar month, on regular paydays set within 11 days of the end of each pay period, with a pay stub every time. Anyone who quits or is fired is paid by the next regular payday. This is general information; the Oklahoma Department of Labor enforces the rules.

Can you look after staff in more than one state?

Yes. Each state sets its own income tax withholding, unemployment insurance, minimum wage, and leave rules, and Oklahoma withholding applies to pay for services in Oklahoma, unless a nonresident earns no more than $300 there in a quarter. Visory keeps one set of books and runs payroll with each state’s rules applied to the staff who work there, so every state’s cost shows in one monthly report.

Do you offer a fractional CFO in Oklahoma?

A fractional CFO advises on numbers someone else produces. Visory runs the books, payroll, and payments, then delivers the insight from the same team: Visory Insights is a plain-English monthly report and a session with a named Business Performance Partner. There is no handover between the doing and the advising, and it comes on one flat monthly fee.
